Infrastructure Architect
Description: Reporting to the Vice President of Infrastructure Architecture, the Infrastructure Architect helps define and implement standards, processes, methods, and reference libraries used within client IT organizations to ensure the stability, scalability, and efficiency of systems that support business growth.
Driving the adoption of best practices for Database, Hosting, Networks, Security, and other critical Infrastructure disciplines is a key focus. This role is highly cross-functional and requires strong communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
Initial duties include collaborating with Infrastructure teams to develop standard solution sets to increase efficiency and scalability of the project delivery cycle. Additional duties include chairing Architecture Review sessions and participating in Design Review sessions.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and maintain broad set of standard solutions, described by Architectural Drawings and Specification Docs
- Support project management roles by clarifying Business and Technical requirements
- Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering (Network, Server, Storage, Security) to develop reusable solutions
- Interact with Business Application owners to define and translate requirements for project delivery
- Develop comprehensive "Blueprint" documents to drive project deliver through the Engineering and Operations teams
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, in order to lead discussions
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience in 2 or more IT functions responsible for Database, Server/OS, Storage Networks, Data Network, Security
- Visio or other architectural drawing tool experience is a must
- Thorough understanding of:
- Unix (Solaris, AIX, Linux) and Windows operating system platforms
- NAS, FC-SAN, iSCSI network storage platforms
- LAN/WAN, Firewall, Load-Balancing
- Machine virtualization (vmWare, Virtual Server, Xen, etc)
Desirable Skills:
- Relational Database (Oracle and SQL Server)
- Web Services (Java, Apache, BEA, WebLogic, SOA)
